Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance has a major responsibility within Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College to prepare students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. As well as supporting, transition, development of employability skills and lifelong learning is seen as central.

A large Careers Room with interactive white board and 20 computers provides an excellent accommodation for teaching and venue for the large range of speakers and events.

Displays, CD-Roms, magazines and prospectuses can be read in the soft seating area. Tables are also available for study and group work.

Adjacent to the Careers Room are two individual interview rooms each with telephones and guidance literature.

Three Careers Officers from the NI Careers Services attend the school 2/3 mornings a week to interview Years 12, 13 and 14 in support of their transition beyond school. They also hold drop-in mornings for those students needing immediate help and guidance.

Parent evenings, in-house GCSE preparation evenings and transition events will also involve at least one of these support staff. They are readily on hand to answer parental questions and will indeed hold interviews with parents at school on request.
