Civic Link is a year 13 programme linked to Local and Global Citizenship. It is funded by Co-operation Ireland and our partner school is Blackwater Community School, Lismore, Co Waterford. We have been involved with this programme for two years.
This project involves two exchange visits where pupils from both schools get to meet up and get to know one another and share ideas for their projects.  Civic Link is one of Co-operation Ireland’s major educational projects. It is a co-operative venture between schools in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland which are partnered on a one to one basis.
Young people, while undertaking a project in their own area, also approach it from the perspective of working jointly with their partner school. The purpose of the interaction is to engender empathy and respect for another’s viewpoint; and the confidence and ability to express one’s own and other’s ideas and perspectives.
