Pupil acheivesBangor Academy Sixth Former trains for Expedition Lesotho.

Congratulations to this intrepid Year 13 pupil who has won the opportunity to join an ambitious three week expedition party to Lesotho. Dirk, a member of Gransha ACF Cadet Detachment, will join 60 cadets from Sea, Army and Air Corps to traverse the Drakensburg Mountains.

They will visit remote villages to help with community projects in the Kingdom of Lesotho, as well as take part in some challenging expeditions such as canoeing around the Katse Dam.
Colonel John Nicholl, Commandant of the 2nd (Northern Ireland) BattallionArmy Cadet Force said:

“This is very far from being a stroll in the park, but Dirk and the other five Northern Ireland cadets are well up for the challenges that lie ahead. They have already … shown very considerable commitment, determination and enthusiasm. I know they will bring these qualities to Expedition Lesotho.

The expedition is undoubtedly ambitious but it also promises to provide the ‘serious fun’ which has always been the hallmark of the cadet movement.”
