Going Viral at the NI Science Festival

E-mail Print

science-fest-18-webYear 9 scientists had a fascinating day learning about how to use science to trace the source of a virus at a session in SERC, Lisburn as part of the NI Science Festival.

They took part in an activity called ‘Patient Zero’.  Pupils had to swap ‘bodily fluids’ (cups filled with water and 1 filled with a chemical that represented a deadly virus).  They had to work back using everyone who had the virus (chemical) in their cups in order to discover who Patient Zero was.

Contamination alert over!
